'Havasupai' means 'people of the blue-green waters'.  It is easy to see why the Native American Tribe chose this name for their canyon dwelling nomadic group.  Today they are the only Tribe who own and permanently inhabit land within the Grand Canyon.  They are also one of only 2 areas who still require mail to be delivered by mule as vehicle access is impossible.  The unusual turquoise colour of the water is due to it's high lime content and the red rock is classic Navajo sandstone typical of the Grand Canyon area.  The colours in this place are vivid and dreamlike; swimming in the cold milky water you almost feel like you've been sublimely transposed to some other planet.
